George Will tells why the 21 drinking age is stupid. I was in college when this drinking age went into effect. While I was already of age by then, I watched how this impacted the younger students. Instead of going to bars or their dorm rooms, they drove around in cars. The change did not stop their drinking, it just made it more dangerous.

I went to South Padre Island, Texas for spring break the last year that the drinking age in that state was 19. The next year, dozens of young people were killed on the road between Padre and Brownsville, where spring breakers were going across the border to Mexico to get drunk and then drive home. That road became a death zone created by a bunch of moralizing control freaks who still don't understand human behavior. There is a lot of blood on their hands, and it's about time someone called them on it.
