Maybe you have heard the new revelation that while former President Bill Clinton was having his affair with Monica Lewinski, that he had Secret Service agents chauffering her and her family and friends around Washington. They even walked her dog for her. And the expenses for all of this were billed to several obscure executive branch department.
Except that it never happened. If it had, be assured you would have heard about 24/7 on every media outlet in the country, even though the scandal is 10 years old.
So how is it that Rudy Giuliani gets a free pass? The story that broke this week is that while he was having an affair with his now-wife Judith Nathan, he charged taxpayers for expenses incurred during their secret get-togethers. He even had New York Police Department personnel drive Nathan and her family around the city, and to visit her parents in Pennsylvania. And yes, they even walked her dog for her. And the bills for this activity were charged in a way to help hide the expenses.
If Bill Clinton had actually compounded his adultery with the same stuff that Giuliani did, he wouldn’t have survived the impeachment battle. It's one thing to have an affair, but quite another if you misappropriate taxpayer resources to facilitate it.
Yet, one can barely hear mention of Giuliani’s trouble in the mainstream media. Here you have a sex scandal combined with a financial scandal, with all the great story-making components. You would have a hard time trying to make up a better soap opera, even down to the part where the Mayor broke up with his wife on television and how his children hate him.
But no, all we get are Barack Obama’s Muslim rumors, neglecting to mention that they have been totally and completely disproven.
Yes, that’s your “liberal” media for you.
