McCain may violate his own campaign finance law

The twisted story of John McCain's campaign finance tricks is coming back to haunt him. He opted into public financing when he was broke, but now he wants out since he's now the nominee. John McCain: war hero, political coward

A follow up on the last post about John McCain missing the vote on the stimulus package. According to ABC News, McCain was in Washington, but made "an 11th hour decision" not to show up.

Yes, the Straight-Talk Express has run off the road and into a ditch. McCain didn't want to vote with Republicans who are filibustering the bill, and he didn't want to vote with Democrats for fear of angering the conservatives even more.

Whatever his war record shows, he's certainly lacking political courage now that he has his sights set on the White House.

McCain breaks, ever so slightly, with Bush

John McCain now thinks we were misled on Iraq:

"I think one of the biggest mistakes we made was underestimating the size of the task and the sacrifices that would be required," McCain said. "Stuff happens, mission accomplished, last throes, a few dead-enders. I'm just more familiar with those statements than anyone else because it grieves me so much that we had not told the American people how tough and difficult this task would be."

Thanks, John for pointing that out, now that it comes at a time when you can use it to prop up your campaign.
