Nancy Pelosi

The Decider is the Divider

While a lot could be said about the smears against Nancy Pelosi for her bipartisan trip to Syria, this sums it up pretty well:

While Speaker Pelosi has been in the Middle East letting Assad and others know that Americans are united in their support for human rights and opposition to terrorism, the right has been sitting on their couches, lobbing messages of division. While Bush was attacking her at home, she was supporting him abroad.

Just who should be embarrassed?

Believing what you read

Joshua Marshall has been documenting the latest smear job against Nancy Pelosi. The Washington Times put out a false story that Pelosi wants a bigger military plane to fly between DC and California so she can bring more people. The fact is that the military suggested a bigger plane than former speaker Denny Hastert had because they didn't want to stop halfway and refuel. It seems the Washington Times doesn't realize that Chicago is a lot closer to DC than San Francisco.

At the same time this is going on, I'm paying attention to all the right wingers here in Nevada attacking Hillary Clinton, using all those made-up stories from the 1990s, the ones that were debunked over and over, but are still spread far and wide whenever there is a Clinton threat is Wingnutland.

It's interesting that these hardline conservatives will believe anything that bashes the Clintons and Pelosis of the world, but plug their ears and whistle Dixie whenever a discouraging word is spoken about their leader. Or, they blast the media for being biased, only when it talks bad about the right. But when the smears starts against Clinton or Pelosi, they get all excited and say, "Look, it's in the New York Times, so it has to be true!"
